Issue Overview:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
crypto: algif_aead - Revert to operating out-of-place

To mitigate this issue, we recommend that customers disable loading of the algif_aead module by running the following commands as an administrator user:

echo "install algif_aead /bin/false" > /etc/modprobe.d/disable-algif.conf

rmmod algif_aead

Some Amazon Linux 2 systems on the ARM64 architecture may fail the above rmmod command as they have the algif_aead module built-in. In this case, the following command and a reboot will mitigate the issue:

sudo grubby --update-kernel ALL --args "initcall_blacklist=algif_aead_init" (CVE-2026-31431)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

crypto: authencesn - Do not place hiseq at end of dst for out-of-place decryption (CVE-2026-43033)

Issue Correction:
Run dnf update kernel --releasever 2023.11.20260505 or dnf update --advisory ALAS2023-2026-1651 --releasever 2023.11.20260505 to update your system.
