Amazon Linux will stop evaluating and fixing CVEs for three older Amazon Linux Extras on June 2, 2025: unbound1.13, dnsmasq2.85 and rust1. All 3 extras will be marked as unsupported in the extra catalog.
Upstream support of unbound 1.13 ended in April 2018. We recommend that customers who need a version of unbound newer than the one in the Amazon Linux 2 core repository (1.7) transition to the Amazon Linux 2 unbound1.17 Extra or Amazon Linux 2023.
The last update to dnsmasq 2.85 was released by its authors in April 2021. We recommend that customers relying on the dnsmasq2.85 Extra on Amazon Linux 2 transition to using the more recent dnsmasq Extra that vends current versions.
Amazon Linux 2’s rust toolchain was originally vended through the rust1 Extra. It has been relocated to the core repository since February 2022. The original extra will now be marked as unsupported.
